Looking for a personal DIY gift from the kids? A few years ago, the kids and I worked on this:

We purchased letters at Michael's, spray painted them and then I took a photo with each child. We put the photos in a simple frame. 

I've also seen this done where the kids do one each year so you can see how the kids have grown, like this one from Brassy Apple.
