Mom 100 Cookbook

Raise your hand if you love dinner time.

(crickets chirping)

That's what I thought.

I love cooking and baking for my family, but lately, dinnertime has been a little stressful. Meltdowns on cue, complaining about what's for dinner and grumpy attitudes at the table.

I don't know when or how it happened, but all of the sudden we have picky eaters in the house.

So, in an attempt to kick those attitudes to the curb, I've been working my way through The Mom 100 Cookbook by Katie Workman.

She has variations of simple, flavorful recipes to please everyone.

And everything I've made out of the book has been awesome!

In fact, I made a Lentil, Tomato and Rice Soup and my 8 year old (who will not touch tomatoes with a 10 foot pole) announced that it was the BEST. DINNER. EVER. !!!!! Now that is saying somethin'!

The pancakes are also fabulous! I've made them many times.

If you're like me and have picky eaters or are stuck in a rut, I highly recommend this book. AND right now it's only $6.78 on Amazon! That is a great price! Go snatch it up!

Citrus Vanilla Sugar Scrub {with printable}

For Christmas, my niece gave me this scrub and it is amazing!

I loved it so much that I needed to get the recipe so I could make more. She gave me the recipe from here.

While it is edible, I highly recommend it as a hand scrub ;) I don't know about you, but this time of year my hands are dry and cracked. This scrub is so nourishing and moisturizing.

The recipe is super easy and only has a few ingredients.

Citrus Vanilla Sugar Scrub
From Saved by Grace
Makes 5 half pints or 10 quarter pints

5 c. granulated sugar
1 c. coconut oil, melted
2 lemons, zested and juiced
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. orange extract

Mix all ingredients together. Spoon it into jars. Add double-sided label {printable here}. I used this punch.

I think this is the best type of gift to give and get!

Snow Day + Snow Cream

We've had inches and inches of snow turning the Northwest into a winter wonderland. The kids are LOVING it! They've been playing in it for hours.

When I was a kid, one thing we used to when it snowed was make ice cream out of snow, or SNOW CREAM! We never really had a recipe, but one of my Facebook friends posted one, so I thought I'd share.

Start with 4-6 cups fresh, clean snow

Let your helpers measure ;)

Add one cup of milk, cream or half & half and 1/2 cup sugar (more or less, depending on how sweet you like it).

Add 1 tsp. vanilla extract or other flavoring (we've tried almond and coconuts flavors and both are delicious). Lightly mix and serve.

Recipe adapted from here.

Stay warm!
