Total Randomness

The end of last week was kinda "blah". It was pouring buckets and I had a hard time getting motivated to do much of anything. When I get in those kind of moods, I tend to turn to my kitchen and bake! I had my neighbor's boys for the afternoon, so we went to town on some cookies!

We made these...

Next time I think I'll use a different sugar cookie recipe. This one has 2 tsp. of Cream of Tarter and I think it makes them taste funny.

But the kids had a fun time coloring some sugar. We started with a 1/2 cup sugar...

added some food coloring...

Where are their shirts? Doesn't their mom dress them?

and there you go...

we also used some sprinkles that we already had in our cupboard

The kids got to roll the cookies in their favorite color and then we popped them in the oven

I had a little helper to help me clean up the dishes

On Sunday, I made these and they were gone by 3pm today. Note to self: double the recipe next time.

Today my boy drew this for me...it's a panda going down a waterfall :)

This week, I'm working on getting some things hung on the wall in our bedroom. Here's a little preview...

I could just cover everything in yarn. I love the warmth and texture it brings.

So there you have it...all the random stuff going on around here ;)

Diy Rosette Headband

A few months ago my best friend's daughter turned 9. We had purchased her a small gift, but I wanted to add a little something personal and unique as well.

So, in a pinch, I made her this little headband...

I already had all the materials and I used this tutorial for the rosettes.

It was an easy and quick accessory to make and does not require any sewing. You should try it! The little girls in your life will love it!

Upcycle Your Christmas Cards

I love getting Christmas cards! I love seeing all our friends and their families and how they have grown since last year.

Last week I finally took them down (I don't rush into de-Christmasing, as you can see).

But, before I tossed them, I cut them up...

I put all these scraps in an envelope and put them in our Christmas boxes for next year. Now, they can be used for gift embellishments or tags.

What do you do with your Christmas cards?

9 months

Today our sweet baby girl hit another milestone...9 months!

I snapped this picture while taking down the Christmas stuff last week
She is a goofy, funny, happy little thing. She laughs a lot, mimics us, has 2 teeth, says dada, is crawling, standing and furniture walking.

She loves her siblings and they love her. We all do.

It's hard to believe that in 3 months we will be having a 1 year celebration!

Happy Wednesday!

Sewing, Sewing & more Sewing

This is what our dining table has looked like for the last 4 days...

 Piles of fabric

Stacks of ribbon

and lots of other sewing stuff.

I currently have 8 pregnant friends. That's 8 babies arriving very soon!! So, I've been sewing away for baby gifts.

I went to a shower this weekend and here's what I made for my sweet friend, Kaitlin and her baby girl Leah, due to arrive next month.

Personalized onesie with matching headband...

felt flower tutorial here

And no nursery room decor is complete without an initial...pink and yarn-covered, of course!

It was so much fun making these for precious Leah. And now I'm off to start some BOY gifts :)

Master Bedroom Redo: Part 4

I can't believe I've been working on this silly bedroom since August!!

I was so certain I knew what I wanted when it came to the bedspread. So I ordered it and it came, but I was disappointed.

It was thin. The color was all wrong. And the look was not coming together like I had hoped. So, back to the drawing board I went.

I waited and waited until I found the right one. And finally, just before Christmas I found it (even the cat approves)! So, here it is...our (mostly) finished Master Bedroom:

I loooove this throw. So ruffly and fun!

My hubby hung these shelves and we each got one for some of our things. Can you tell who's is who's? HA!

Have you seen Along Came Polly? My husband keeps joking about the pillows, referring to this scene:

hahahaha! We don't have THAT many pillows!

I still have some pictures to hang and some ceiling paint to touch up, but we are in the home stretch now.

Thanks for looking. If you're interested in seeing the before pictures, you can click here.

2011 Recap

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Here's a little photo recap of the last year:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."
